Welcome New ECON Faculty
August 2022 - A new academic year brings new faculty members to Virginia Tech and this Fall, the Department of Economis welcomes FIVE new faculty members with a wide variety of research and teaching interests!
Meet our newest faculty members.....
Sergio Barrera is a new Assistant Professor of Economics. He recently completed his Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota after serving five years in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Cryptologic Linguist!
Anqi Li joins as a Visiting Assistant Professor in Economics this year after serving in similar roles at Cal Tech and UC Berkeley. Her research focuses on mechanism design, contract theory, political economy, and social networks.
Pitchayaporn Tantihkarnchana joins our department as a Collegiate Assistant Professor of Economics after serving in a similar role at Penn State. She teaches one of our department's large lecture sections and leads the First Year Experience course for new economics majors.
Jadrian Wooten joins the department as a Collegiate Associate Professor of Economics after serving in a similar role at Penn State. He will teach one of our large lecture courses and serve as the department's Director of Undergraduate Studies.
Bo Zhou joins the department as an Assistant Professor of Economics after previously teaching at Durham University. He earned his Ph.D. in econometrics in 2017 from Tilburg University and has research interests in econometric theory and financial econometrics.
