Dr. Sudipta Sarangi examines behavioral patterns in a pandemic
October 30, 2020 - Dr. Sudipta Sarangi and his co-authors examine bahvioral patterns during pandemics in their article "Persistent Patterns of Behavior: Two Infectious Desease Outbreaks 350 Years Apart". The paper compares behavior during the London Plague of 1665 (based on a reading of Daneil Defoe's Journal of the Year of the Plague published in 1722) to what is going on under Covid-19 and shows striking similarities in behavior.
Dr. Sarangi says, "It is in the 'CLAHS narrative tradition' - it uses no equations and no data - like Daniel Defoe, we tell a story connecting it to underlying mathematical models."
