Meet the Panelists:


David Wang is currently a Senior Financial Sector Expert in the Climate Finance Policy Unit at the IMF and an affiliate faculty in Virginia Tech's Department of Economics.
     He served as the Chief Economist for the Asia region at Credit Suisse from 2018-2023.
     Prior to joining Credit Suisse, Dr. Wang was an economist in the research department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), primarily responsible for macroeconomic forecasting of Asian countries and the Eurozone countries.  Before the IMF, Dr. Wang was a researcher for BlackRock's Multi-asset Solutions team, specializing in tactical asset allocation.  Dr. Wang started his career in the financial industry as an analyst at Morgan Stanley, focusing on convertible debt underwriting and equity derivative valuations.
     Dr. Wang holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Stanford University and received his undergraduate education at the University of Chicago.

Mohammad Mahdi Banasaz

Mohammad Mahdi Banasaz

Dr. Mohammad Mahdi Babasaz received his Ph.D. from the Department of Economics at Virginia Tech in 2022.  At present, he is working for Capital One as a Quantitative Analysis Manager.  Dr. Banasaz led the development of modeling a $25 B deposit portfolio for Capital One's Small Business account and also worked on the Bank's consumer deposit portfolio.

Dr. Martin A. Wurm is a macroeconomist and director of economic research at Moody's Analytics.  HIs expertise covers macroecconomic and financial forecasting, regulatory stress testing, financial credit and market risk, and bank balance sheet modeling.  Martin has extensive experience in client consulting and routinely publishes studies and commentary on a wide range of topics ranging from monetary policy to climate impact on U.S. healthcare.  Before joinging Moody's, he served as an Associate Professor of Economics at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA.  He holds a doctorate and M.A. from the Univeristy of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Chandramouli Banerjee

Dr. Chandra Banerjee is a Quantitative Analysis Senior Manager at Capital One.  He works in the Predictive Analytics group and leads a team of data scientists in developing machine learning driven modeling framework for forecasting deposit balances.
     Prior to joining Capital One, Dr. Banerjee was the Director of Statistical Modeling at Essent Guaranty, Inc, where he developed cutting-edge behavioral models for analyzing borrowers' mortgage decisions.
     Dr. Banerjee is also the product owner of no-code machine learning explainability tool that helps the non-data Science community better understand black-box models.  Dr. Banerjee holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and received his undergraduate education from Delhi University in Delhi, India.
