Shaprio & Kline Visit

The Department of Economics is excited to welcome back to campus, two of our successful alumni!
Brad Shapiro is a 2007 graduate from Virginia Tech with dual degrees in Economics (B.A.) and Mathematics (B.S.), he went on to also earn a Master's dgree in Mathematics in 2009. After leaving Tech, Shapiro earned a Ph.D. in Economcs from MIT in 2014.
Since 2014, Dr. Shapiro has worked as an Associate Professor of Marketing at The University of Chicago, Booth School of Business.
On September 16, 2019, Dr. Shapiro returned to campus to present a seminar for the Economics department on his paper, "Generalizable and Robust TV Advertising Effects".
Jeff Kline has earned three degrees from Virginia Tech! A B.A. in History in 1985, M.A. in Economics in 1988 and finally, a Ph.D. in Economics in 1994 with his thesis, "Perfect Recall and the Informational Contents of Strategies in Extensive Games".
Dr. Kline has worked as an Economist with the U.S. Department of Labor and is now an Associate Professor of Economics at the School of Economics at the University of Queensland, Australia.
Dr. Kline will also be returning to the department in October and will be presenting a seminar on October 11, 2019 on "Perfecting Correlated Equilibria with Mediator Mistakes".
